ACF Urges FG to Halt Plateau Killings, Declare Security Emergency

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has called on the Federal Government to urgently stop ongoing attacks by terror gangs on communities in Plateau State.

In a statement signed by its National Publicity Secretary, Prof. T. A. Muhammad-Baba, the ACF expressed deep sorrow over the March 28 attacks in Bokkos and Mangu LGAs, which left many dead—including children—and caused widespread destruction.

“ACF deeply mourns the dead and unequivocally condemns the attacks,” the statement read. “The killing spree on the Plateau must be stopped immediately, and peace must return to the State.”

The forum urged the government to declare a state of security emergency in vulnerable, banditry-prone areas, and to implement early-warning and rapid-response systems involving local communities.

Other key demands include:

• Enhanced intelligence gathering and deployment to identify and prosecute the perpetrators.

• Full compensation for victims’ families and relief for the injured.

• Support for community-led dialogue through traditional leaders, clergy, and civil society to foster peace and reconciliation.

• Greater accountability from the National Assembly in pushing for tangible security reforms.

ACF warned that the rising death toll from violence across the North adds to “dismal statistics” of insecurity and called on the FG to act decisively to protect lives and restore hope to affected communities.
