The Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) has called on prominent sons and daughters of Ibadanland to throw their weight behind the coronation of Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland, scheduled for next Friday.

A Committee of Heavyweights

In preparation for the historic event, the CCII President-General, Chief Ajeniyi Ajewole, inaugurated a powerful committee co-chaired by two of Ibadan’s billionaire businessmen — Engr. Dotun Sanusi and Chief Adegboye Adegoke. Their mandate: to coordinate the citywide celebrations and ensure the coronation is remembered as a landmark moment in Ibadan’s cultural history.

Government and Community Efforts

While the Oyo State Government had earlier set up a committee led by Chief Bayo Oyero to oversee official coronation plans — in line with the state’s tradition of funding first-class monarchs’ coronations — the CCII committee has taken the festivities a step further.

Unlike the government’s one-day programme, CCII has outlined a weeklong celebration, picking seven additional days for cultural events, receptions, and communal festivities that reflect Ibadan’s cosmopolitan spirit.

To amplify the grandeur, the CCII committee has secured live coverage across leading platforms including Arise TV, Channels TV, TVC, Solution FM, and Ilaji FM, among others. With this, millions of people within and beyond Nigeria will witness the historic enthronement of Oba Ladoja.
