
Deputy Senate President Senator Barau Jibrin visited the families of the 16 travelers killed in Uromi, Esan North-East LGA of Edo State. His visit took place on Wednesday in the Bunkure Local Government Area of Kano State, where he extended his condolences to the bereaved families.
In a statement from Barau’s spokesman, Ismail Mudashir, it was revealed that the victims were from Bunkure, Kibiya, Rano, and Garko LGAs. Senator Jibrin met with the families at the At-Taqwa Mosque in the Sabon Fegi area of Bunkure LGA.
“I’m here to express my sympathy following the tragic incident that cost us 16 of our brothers last Thursday. May Allah grant them Jannatul Firdaus and speed up the recovery of those injured,” he said.
Expressing his concern about the incident, Senator Jibrin mentioned that he immediately contacted the state governor, security agencies, and other key stakeholders, who took swift action. He confirmed that, in addition to the 14 individuals already arrested, two more suspects have since been apprehended. The governor assured him of the state government’s support for the families affected.
Barau reassured the families of the deceased hunters that those responsible for the killings would face justice.
