Lionel Messi scored his first Ligue 1 goal on Saturday evening in Paris Saint-Germain’s 3-1 win over Nantes.
Messi curled home a left-footed shot from 20 yards out to make sure of PSG’s win in the 87th minute.
Kylian Mbappe had earlier given PSG the lead after just two minutes. But it was not straightforward for Mauricio Pochettino’s side, with Keylor Navas shown a red card in the 65th minute for a foul on Ludovic Blas.
Kolo Muani equalised for Nantes 11 minutes later but an own goal by Dennis Appiah in the final 10 minutes gave the home side the lead, before Messi netted his first league goal since signing in August.
It is PSG’s 11th consecutive home victory in all competitions, their best run of form at Le Parc des Princes since August 2017 to February 2018.
PSG remain top of Ligue 1, 12 points clear of Rennes. Nantes remain 11th on 18 points.
