Liberia vs Nigeria: COVID-19 vaccine delayed Ighalo -Official

Ighalo

ODION IGHALO reported to the Super Eagles training camp in Tangier, Morocco, because he had to take a second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine at his base in Saudi Arabia, officials PUNCH Sports Extra reports.

Ighalo joined the Eagles camp Thursday afternoon and trained with his teammates for the first time on Friday.

“He (Ighalo) rejoined the Eagles camp late because he needed a second jab of the COVID-19 vaccine if not, he would have had to quarantine on his return to Saudi Arabia,” Super Eagles spokesman Babafemi Raji told PUNCH Sports Extra.

“His appointment was for Wednesday and that was why he could join the squad on Thursday.”

Ighalo came out of international retirement to bolster the squad for their Qatar 2022 World Cup qualifiers against Liberia and Cape Verde.

The 33-year-old striker scored 16 goals in 35 appearances for Nigeria before he retired in 2019.
