Joel Ayayi scored Gonzaga’s first seven points, and both teams got off to quick starts offensively in Saturday’s Final Four showdown between No. 1 seed Gonzaga and No. 11 seed UCLA. But the Bruins took an early 19-15 lead at the game’s second media timeout with 10:55 remaining.

Gonzaga could lose this game if it keeps letting UCLA play in the half-court and refuses to orchestrate the offense through Timme. But Timme chases down a loose ball, assists on a bucket and then finishes a transition dunk to get Gonzaga some momentum. Helter skelter favors Gonzaga.

UCLA has made 8-of-10 and the Zags haven’t made an FG in 2:30. This is going to be a game.

Ayayi is back at the scorer’s table. Zags need his scoring lift. Two fouls shouldn’t be an issue for a wing. He’s coming in now at the 5:32 mark with UCLA up 32-28.

Tyger Campbell and Joel Ayayi both have two fouls. Something to monitor here late in the half.

Zags shooting 63%, UCLA 56% and the Bruins are up 25-23 at the u8 timeout. Juzang and Ayayi are the leading scorers so far. Suggs and Kispert have been quiet so far.

Something to monitor: Jules Bernard exited early and is now returning. But Tracy Wolfson mentioned that he was having stomach issues earlier in the day and was needing to take in fluids. UCLA is not particularly deep.
